I need help (guitarists any level please!)?

alright so here is the situation in a few days or weeks or so i will begin taking guitar lessons because i really want to learn but here is the problem i know nothing about the guitar. i have an electric though by the way (six strings) and i just wanted to know if anyone can give me a bunch of pointers on what i should know i don't want to look like an idiot when i walk in there so that will be greatly appreciated thanks :p
